Play Safe
Responsible Gambling
The spreadsheet mindset applies to fun, too: set the budget, track the hours, and audit yourself honestly.
Fix the numbers first
Choose a monthly entertainment figure before the first coin purchase and book it as spent immediately. Cap session length with an actual timer. Two rules with no exceptions: never buy coins to recover a bad session, and never fund play from money with an existing assignment – rent, bills, savings.
Deploy the built-in controls
All 18 operators on our board ship purchase limits, cool-down timers, and self-exclusion – we score them on the quality of these tools. Activate limits while play is still fun; controls installed during a losing streak arrive late by definition.
Audit yourself for red flags
Purchases you conceal. Sessions that fight stress instead of boredom. Agitation when stopping. Coin buys that were not in the plan. One flag: pause and reassess. Two or more: escalate to a professional conversation now, not after the next session.
The help lines – free, confidential, 24/7
Call or text 1-800-GAMBLER any time. Gamblers Anonymous (gamblersanonymous.org) meets in every state. The National Council on Problem Gambling – ncpgambling.org – publishes screening tools and local referrals. The expected value of asking for help is the highest number on this entire site.
