Coverage Map
Where the Sweeps Model Is – and Is Not – Available
Four states are off the board entirely. The other 46 mostly work on the promotional-sweepstakes framework, with local footnotes worth reading.
The excluded four
WA · NV · ID
The legacy exclusions. Washington statute treats online play harshly, Nevada shields its licensed market, and Idaho law leaves no workable gap. All three are geofenced by every operator we track – no exceptions, no workarounds worth your account standing.
California – off the board since January 2026
AB 831 took effect in January 2026 and prohibited sweepstakes casino operations statewide. Compliant operators exited on schedule. Any site still accepting California players failed our first trust filter, and should fail yours.
The remaining 46
Elsewhere the model generally operates as a lawful promotion, with variation in the footnotes: several states set the age gate at 21 instead of 18, a few restrict specific mechanics, and each operator maintains its own coverage matrix – which is why our audit checks availability operator by operator rather than assuming a national map.
Practical protocol
Three rules from our data: register with your true address (geolocation mismatches surface at redemption, the worst possible time); confirm your state on the operator’s own list before funding anything; and re-check quarterly – two legislatures moved inside the past twelve months and the trend line points to more.
Market analysis, not legal advice. Matrix verified July 2026.
